Katie Derham's dominatrix chic look could be too cutting edge for conservative viewers
The tight leather jacket was a step away from Ms Derham's usual classic style of dress
But Katie appeared to be determined to drag the news programme kicking and screaming into the 21st century by wearing the fashionable leather jacket, a season must-have pioneered by the likes of Kate Moss in her collection for TopShop.
Derham joined Maitlis, who caused an uproar in August when a televised trailer for the BBC's 10pm news programme showed the blonde presenter perched casually on the edge of her circular desk, with one toned leg swung over the other.

Fellow anchor Emily Maitlis caused a stir when she perched on her desk for a news trailer instead of sitting behind it
Miss Maitlis's flash of shapely calf caused a stir among more conservative viewers who saw the 9pm trailer on Monday, and responded with a flurry of complaints.
However, Katie's racy dominatrix style may well just frighten the viewers off!
Ms Derham usually prefers a more feminine look than the one she sported to read the lunchtime news bulletin
