The Duke came to my house 'looking to party'
04 December 2006
The infamous wild child turned rock star said the Duke of York visited her house unannounced looking to party, after going to Hollywood to find himself some female company.
Miss Love, who is promoting her book Dirty Blonde: The Diaries of Courtney Love, described how she greeted him in her slippers and dressing gown, before making him refreshments.
She said: 'Prince Andrew turns up at my house at one in the morning and he wants to party. He'd come to Hollywood to look for chicks. I don't know what he expected at my house.
'I think he thought it was going to be like a party. I had these little bunny slippers on and my fluffy robe. I answered the door and he was there with a bodyguard. At one point he did ask me on the couch - I've never told this to anyone - he said, "So what do you do all day?"'
Miss Love said she made Andrew a cup of tea and even has a photo of the royal drinking it with her.
Prince Andrew's spokesman admitted the royal had visited Miss Love's house on the night in question but insisted he was not alone and said it was 'absolute nonsense' he went there looking for girls.
The spokesman said the prince was part of a group of people at a dinner who went on Miss Love's house after a meal, saying he only stayed briefly - no longer than 45 minutes - after accepting the offer of a cup of tea.
Miss Love has previously claimed that she met the prince - dubbed Air Miles Andy because his habit of jetting around the world at the taxpayers' expense - at Hay-On-Wye, when she was in the Welsh border town in the company of Alan McGee, the man who discovered Oasis.
Her latest revelations came when she appeared on Russell Brand's Channel 4 chat show. Miss Love, the 42-year-old widow of Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain, added to the embarrassment for the royals when she dressed up as the Queen, hoisted up her skirt and gyrated on Brand's lap in sexy underwear, as part of a sketch on the show about James Bond.
The scene has echoes of the time when she famously performed an impromptu striptease in front of Prince Andrew and other spectators at a fundraising event for the Old Vic in 2003, during a duet with Elton John of his hit The Bitch is Back.
Prince Andrew has been linked to a number of women since his ten-year marriage to Sarah Ferguson, which produced two children, Eugenie and Beatrice, ended.
The prince's spokesman claimed the episode referred to by Miss Love on Friday happened six years ago.
