The 40-year-old musician's girlfriend, public relations executive Sara MacDonald, gave birth at 11.15am, a spokesman said.

The 7lb 5oz boy has been named Donovan Rory MacDonald Gallagher.

Mother and child are doing well at an undisclosed location in London.

Noel Gallagher and girlfriend Sara MacDonald have become parents to a baby boy named Donovan Rory MacDonald Gallagher

It is the first child for the couple but the second for Gallagher, who has a seven-year-old daughter, Anais, by ex-wife Meg Mathews.

Gallagher split from Mathews in 2000 after a three-year marriage and they divorced in January 2001.

Gallagher and his younger brother Liam were once known for their enthusiastic partying and drinking but the rocker has admitted they both now live much more sedate lives.

And far from arguing constantly, he said that since his brother broke up with ex-wife Patsy Kensit and started going out with former All Saint Nicole Appleton, the two siblings get on famously.

He told an interviewer a few years ago: "Now that Liam's with Nicky and I'm with Sara, we go out for a foursome for Sunday lunch and stuff like that. And we have the funniest, funniest times, which we never did before.

"I don't know if it's a cliche or not, but behind these two very happy brothers are two very good ladies."
