They made it to the Big Brother final... but still left to a chorus of boos

Five housemates survived 93 days in the house, but only one could walk away with the prize.

Darnell Swallow, Rex Newmark, Sara Folino, and Mikey Hughes all made it to the last night, but fell at the final hurdle.

Albino 'songwriter' Darnell finished in fifth place, with chef Rex thrown out minutes later to meet a hostile crowd. Sara then left to a warm reception, with bookies favourite Mikey coming a surprise second.

Mikey left the house to cheers, yelling: 'Congratulations to Rachel!'

'I've always said from day one that Rachel wasn't a fraud and I'm glad that she is the winner,' he told Davina.

'I just liked her because she just seemed to be nice and genuine and even though she sat on the fence that's just Rachel.'

But Davina told him he had become 'legendary for his straight talking'.

'I've always stood up to all the bullies that we've had this year in the house,' he said. 'In particular the main bully was Alec, I take it she's not here tonight.

'I wasn't here to annoy any friends in the house, I was going to stand up to people.'

Davina asked him what he thought of chef Rex.

'I thought he totally spoiled the last night, I would have preferred it if he wasn't here in the last week,' said Mikey.

He said he couldn't list his many highlights. 'It's the unscripted nature of Big Brother,' he said.

Mikey, who is blind, was then asked about dealing with his disability in the house.

'If anybody gave me negative attitudes I would just stand up and say no,' he told Davina.

Australian Sara also received a warm reaction from the crowd.

The 27-year-old admitted she was worried about being booed. 'I was so scared.'

The two then talked about her 'complex relationship' with Darnell.

'Oh my God! I feel like me and Darnell are really close, close friends,' she said. 'Obviously we had our down times, he made me really upset, but I've forgiven him, I don't hold a grudge.'

And Davina the questioned her about whether the two could become a couple.

'He fancied everyone,' she insisted. Before admitting: 'I'm quite flirty anyway, but I'm single, but... I do like Darnell yes I do.'

She then said she wanted Mikey to win. 'Mikey is just the funniest guy, he just comes out with the most random stuff, he just makes me laugh.

'You can just not stop laughing.'

Sara entered the house in week five, but left £25,000 richer after winning a game with Lisa.

'I'm just in shock to be here,' she said.

Davina told her: 'You've been an absolutely awesome housemate.'

Despite getting a cold reception from the booing crowd Rex delighted in his moment in the limelight. He played up for the waiting cameras, striking poses, and had to be dragged off by Davina for his interview.

'I absolutely love winding people up,' he admitted, when she finally pinned him down.

'I live with the kitchen environment around me and I'm used to being wound up all day long.'

He then attacked favourite Mikey. 'He's the grumpiest man I know,' he said.

Davina changed the subject to Nicole, with Rex admitting he found it harder when his girlfriend joined him in the house.

But he added how much he liked her, before paying tribute to his family.

'My father has moulded me into such a wonderful person, I believe. I owe everything to him,' he said modestly.

And to win? 'I don't know who's going to win, but just because it would be so random and the crowd seems to love her - Sara,' he said, wrongly.

First to be evicted, 26-year-old Darnell, began his interview by chatting up Davina, who he called a 'stunning beautiful woman'. He seemed thrilled to be out, although he held his head in his hands as Davina quizzed him about his morose moments inside the house.

He then talked about his passion for Sara. 'I heard that she likes pizza, I like pizza, so I'm sure we could go out for a pizza.'

There to great the evictees were their ex-housemates, who turned up dressed in their finest clothes to greet their friends.

They were met by a barrage of pantomime boos from the crowd, but reacted with good humour.

Earlier today the group were convinced the day's bad weather would result in tonight's crowd booing them as they left.

After Big Brother allowed them a generous lie-in, they awoke to find it pouring outside.

Rex told the others: 'They are not going to be happy, so whatever boos you get, you are going to get booed even harder.'

As far as Darnell and Rex were concerned they were right - Davina opened the show by saying: 'I can't believe people are shouting get someone out at a final.'

But not all the housemates were worried about the reaction. Instead Rachel wondered if she should wear a bin bag over her head to keep her hair dry, while Sara said: 'Knowing me, I will trip over or something.'

Rex joked that he hoped she would, and that he was anxious to see if he had any fans.

'I can't wait to see some of the people who have been supporting me. I feel like I owe them so much,' he said.

Mikey chipped in: 'It would be so funny on the final night if you went out and there was like a thousand boos.'
