But if this was a nod to a more rock-chick lifestyle, it was rather spoilt by the trip to the supermarket that followed to stock up on loo-rolls, pots and pans and, no doubt, industrial strength hairspray for her gargantuan beehive and Brasso for the awards on Amy's mantlepiece.

It was all a bit of a change of pace for the platinum-album selling soul singer better known for her rebellious streak than her domesticity.

Two weeks ago Amy secretly married Blake in a quickie civil ceremony in Miami, with no family or guests present.

But back in Britain, and struggling with domestic duties, Amy's plans have been brought into rather more sharp focus.

For after a dressing down from her mother, furious to have been left in the dark over her daughter's wedding, Amy and Blake have agreed to hold a "large family bash," in London.

Amy admitted: "My dad was all right about the wedding but my mum wasn't. We've got to do something here now."

So it seems however many things Amy may happily say "No, no, no" to, her mother's request for a marriage mark two is not one of them.
