Trinny and Susannah anger pagans by giving Long Man a female makeover

Makeover gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine have outraged pagans by giving the Long Man of Wilmington a sex change.

The presenters encouraged over a hundred women to dress in white suits and lie over the figure, giving the 227ft man a temporary female form.

The ancient symbol of masculinity was given hips, breasts and even pigtails as part of a stunt the duo's ITV show Undress the Nation.

Protesters feared the figure, which is considered by some to hold sacred significance, could be damaged by the stunt.

Anger: Pagan protesters confronted the presenters over the stunt

Pagans also took their complaints to the ITV website message board after the program aired, with one saying: "For those who consider this a religious site it sends out a message that religious intolerance is acceptable."

Susannah wasn't concerned by critics, saying: "I think this is one of the best days I've ever had."

Still, the Sussex Archaeological Society has since apologised to pagan protesters after it permitting the makeover to go ahead.
