Uma Thurman's relief after obsessive fan is convicted of stalking her

A 37-year-old man has been found guilty of stalking actress Uma Thurman in a New York City court this morning.

Former psychiatric patient Jack Jordan was convicted of fourth-degree stalking and second-degree aggravated harassment at the State Supreme Court in Manhattan after a day of deliberating.

Jordan had been accused of stalking the actress from January 2005 to the summer of 2007, with a one year hiatus in 2006.

She told of her horror after allegedly receiving a picture of a razor blade and a gravestone marked RIP near what appeared to be an open grave.

She said: "I was just completely disturbed. I didn't know what to do.

"I was completely freaked out. It was like a nightmare. It was scary."

Miss Thurman said she received the card from Jordan in November 2005, while shooting a movie near her New York City home.

She also said it contained the written message: "My hands should be on your body at all times."

The actress believed Jordan approached her trailer on the set of My Super Ex-Girlfriend and requested to see her - only to be stopped by her assistant, who promised to deliver Jordan's card to her.

She also revealed that when she called her family to alert them, her father told her he had also received email messages from Jordan.

He also told her that Jordan had also communicated with the actress's mother and brother.

Mother-of-two Miss Thurman said: "I felt a stone drop in my stomach.

"The idea that this had a history made it even more terrifying."

Thurman's parents Dr Bill Thurman and Birgitte Thurman and her brother Dechen all testified during the week-long trial.

Mrs Thurman said Jordan called her in spring 2005.

"He told me, in so many words, that he believed that he and my daughter had a predestined life, that they were meant to be together.

"I said to him in no uncertain terms that this was really a fantasy ... and when I said that he switched to saying that, in that case, then there was no meaning to life for him so he would have to kill himself and probably very soon."

Jordan, who lives with his parents in Maryland, denied the charges of stalking and aggravated harassment.
