Abbey Clancy, who dates England and Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, is the latest star to emerge from a Liverpool hairdressers with giant coloured rollers in her hair.

Hot accessory: Abbey Clancy showed off giant curlers as she emerged from a Liverpool hairdresser last week

The aspiring model didn't appear particularly concerned by her pinned-up locks, much to the amusement of onlookers.

She casually stopped at a cash machine and collected a cream-coloured gown from a dress shop before eventually heading home.

Abbey follows the stiletto-clad footsteps of Steve Gerrad's wife Alex Curran and Wayne Rooney's fiancée Coleen McLoughlin, who have also been spotted in curlers in recent times.

Roll on: the aspiring model amused onlookers as she ran errands after visiting the hairdresser

Coleen has defended the look, saying: "If I go to the hairdresser before a night out, I'll often leave the rollers in and take them out at home."

"I don't care what people think, as long as my hair looks good when I go out."

Fellow Liverpool resident Jennifer Ellison has also been caught in curlers – the former Brookside star was famously photographed with twirled tresses during a shopping trip in 2004.

It's not the first time Abbey's hair has been a talking point - her long extensions were heavily criticised by straight-talking American Janice Dickinson on her reality show Beauty And The Best.

While she took them out briefly, she has since had them put back in again.

"Everyone who watched the series knows I have had hair extensions in the past," she says.

"Janice hated them, so much so she made me take them out on the show, but I know she would approve of these."

She says: "To have my hair back in amazing shape feels fantastic."
