When pop stars lose it: Now Texas star Sharleen Spiteri loses her rock chick look

But this picture snapped just a week after Sharleen's 40th birthday shows that time has not been particularly kind to the charismatic former Texas frontwoman.
Gone are the angular popstar cheekbones and in their stead comes what can only be described as a comfortable-looking chubbiness.

Texas singer Sharleen has piled on the pounds in just the past few years
Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner is said to have gatecrashed Sharleen's birthday party last week, and when she asked him for his autograph he didn't even recognise the former superstar.
"Poor Sharleen looked absolutely mortified," one party guest told the Daily Mirror. "She had plucked up the courage to go over to him for the autograph. She told him she was the lead singer in a band and was a massive fan of the Monkeys. She said she had been making music since before he was born."
They added: "Alex just shrugged and Sharleen kept saying how much of a massive fan she was. She said it was her birthday party and it would make her night if he could do it for her."

From rock chick to geek chic: Former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton appears to have abandoned her sexy rock chick look for a more mumsy style
But Sharleen is not the only one to have ditched her former sexy look.
Former All Saints star Nicole Appleton appears to have given up her rock chick status for a mumsy new appearance.
The singer ditched her rock standard peroxide-blonde hair for a decidedly dowdy mousey blonde do.
Nicole's drab look is a far cry from her former glamorous rock chick style, and unfortunately has the effect of making her look years older.
Maybe the singer was going for the serious look in anticipation of her new role as a chat show host.
But it should hardly be a tough gig, as one of her first guests was her partner, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. The couple have a 6-year-old son called Gene.
Liam didn't hold back on the chat show, which is made for viewing on mobiles. During the interview, the 35-year old was given three names and he had to say who he would like to collaborate with, who he'd text back and who he would ignore.

Dowdy: The singer's chic style appears to have been abandoned in favour of a decidedly dowdier look
He replied: "I'd call Trevor McDonald, I'd text Peter Andre and I'd ignore Dolly Parton.
"The only reason I'd text Peter Andre is to say, 'What the f*** are you on about man? Where'd you get my f***ing number from, you f***ing p**** c***?'".
Sounds like someone else in need of a makeover - starting with a wash of the mouth with a bar of soap.
