X Factor reject smiles again after £10,000 dental makeover

She may have been rejected by Simon Cowell, but former X Factor contestant Katie Booth is smiling again after getting a brand new set of teeth.

The 25-year old mother-to-be had been accepted by judges for the ITV1 talent show's Boot Camp - only to then be sent home minutes later after Simon Cowell said her bad gnashers gave her a lisp.

He also said she might not be able to cope with the show due to her being five months pregnant.

Gleaming: rejected X Factor contestant Katie Booth reveals her new set of teeth

New confidence: Katie says she plans to audition for the show again next year

Katie, of Skegness, Lincs, who sang Faith Hill's There You'll Be was left heartbroken by the rejection and feared any dreams of stardom would be ruined by her teeth.

Now dentist Lance Knight, 31 - who has treated a string of celebrities at his surgery in St Annes Square Manchester - has given Katie £10,000 worth of treatment free.

And today Katie, who underwent three sessions of treatment, said: "I'll be back on the show next year and this time I'm determind to win."

She added: "At the time when I didn't get through I was gutted because I'd thought I was through. I was upset but now I realise that it's probably for the best. I don't think I would have been able to cope with the stress being nine months pregnant and ready to drop.

"When I was about 16 I realised that my teeth were getting worse. I've no-one to blame but myself, drinking too many sugary drinks. But it doesn't help that I'm terrified of the dentist so I couldn't bring myself to go.

"When I got the call about having my teeth done I was over the moon. It's all happened so quickly, over the last six weeks.

"After each session I'd go home and have a look and I couldn't believe the changes. I've still got to have my back teeth done but I've been given my smile back. It's made me much more confident. I'm walking round now and smiling more.

Booth, who began singing at the age of 12, continued: "I've found myself talking to people more. When I used to talk to laugh I'd always cover my mouth so people couldn't see my teeth but now I don't have to.

"I'm grateful to the show because if it wasn't for them this wouldn't have come about.

She concluded: "I'm definitely going back next year to wow the judges with my new smile. By then I should have better teeth than Simon Cowell!"
