You're off the Rimmel case, Agent Gemma

Having clinched a role in the new Bond movie, Gemma Arterton is set to be the next big thing in the acting world.

But Gemma, who was also in St Trinian's, has learned the hard way not to take anything for granted.

The 22-year-old star, who plays Agent Fields in Quantum Of Solace, was lined up to work alongside Kate Moss as a face of Rimmel cosmetics – but had to pull out of the lucrative deal because it clashed with a campaign she already had with Avon.

Contract clash: Gemma Arteton wanted to be the next face of Rimmel

"Gemma was ready to go with Rimmel, but the deal crashed at the last minute," I'm told.

"She wanted to make a big name for herself outside of the acting world and loved the idea of being the next Kate Moss.

"Bosses at Avon thought there was a conflict of interest so Rimmel has been left trying to find someone else at the last minute.

"They are now hoping to get TV presenter Alexa Chung."

A flustered spokesman at the make-up house said: "Gemma approached Rimmel about becoming a face, but Rimmel decided she wasn't the right fit for the brand."

Quantum leap in Bond's insurance

Price to pay: Daniel Craig's insurance is rising

Daniel Craig's determination to play the movie world's most famous secret agent with fearless realism has made him its most expensive insurance risk.

Daniel has insisted on doing all his own stunts in Quantum Of Solace, with the result that worried filmmakers have insured him for a thumping £5million.

"Daniel used to be covered for £3million but that's now gone through the roof," says an on-set source.

The star had a tooth knocked out during a fight scene in the last Bond film, Casino Royale, and casually insisted: "That's part of the deal."

But there are more significant dangers – one stuntman was left in a coma during filming of the new movie when his car collided with a lorry.

"The studio is worried about Daniel's safety and is making sure his stunts are double-checked before he goes on set," adds the source.

"They can't afford the insurance to rise again."
