"Get some wardrobe": Simon was gobsmacked by Dennis Brigham's outbust
Back-flipping Dennis Brigham, 19, took exception to Simon after the judge told him no-one would take him seriously.
Storming off stage, he shouted: "Well its y'all decision, y'all suck as judges."
He then looked at Simon and said: "You need to get some wardrobe. For somebody to be so rich, your pants are very, very cheap, with that cheap, very lame shirt you've got on."
He then stormed off, leaving the judging panel staring in disbelief.
Dennis had made it to the second round of the Hollywood auditions of the talent show with his camp dancing and singing act.
Simon wanted to send him home at the first stage, saying: "It's all a bit crazy for me." But he was out-voted by his fellow judges.
But last night he got his wish, although he made Dennis snap when he told him: "I don't think anyone is going to take you seriously as a recording artist."
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that Victoria Beckham is being lined up as a judge on The X Factor.
Simon is said to be in advanced talks with the former Spice Girl and is understood to have made her an offer of more than £1million a series.
He apparently wants to replace current judge Dannii Minogue before the new series starts on ITV in the autumn.
Posh, 34, has been approached by Simon before but always put her commitments in Los Angeles first.
However, she is now said to be considering signing up if her husband David makes his move to AC Milan permanent.
With clothes-horse Posh on the panel, maybe Simon is taking Dennis's advice and getting some wardrobe.
