£2m blow for Middlesex

Middlesex have missed out on the chance to play for a £2million jackpot after the inaugural Champions League Twenty20 was cancelled today.

The eight-team early autumn event was moved to this month due to its close proximity to the Champions Trophy but was then postponed after the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

Organisers have scrapped this year's contest because a new date could not be found. Middlesex qualified after being crowned England's Twenty20 champions. Chief executive Vinny Codrington, said: "It is very disappointing but not a great shock. It was clear they would have found it difficult to get a window for it."
