70,000 snap up tickets for Fabio debut

Fabio Capello is already pulling in the crowds after the FA said yesterday 70,000 tickets have been sold for next month's friendly against Switzerland at Wembley.

When England failed to qualify for this summer's European Championships, the FA feared fans would turn their backs on the national team until the World Cup qualifiers started in the autumn.

But Capello's appointment as England manager has revived interest and Soho Square officials expect a full house on February 6. David Beckham possibly winning his 100th cap as captain would further boost interest and Capello is expected to meet his former Real Madrid player this week.

Capello plans to visit The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire and Arsenal's London Colney training ground — both used regularly by England. Beckham is training with Arsene Wenger's squad.

Today is Capello's first official day in the job. He is expected to be at both Carling Cup semifinals this week, having been at Villa Park and Luton at the weekend.
