A1GP chiefs unveil changes to new season
05 August 2007
De Silva said: "This year's race calendar sees a few changes and the addition of one new venue which I feel reflects the evolution of this fantastic racing series.
"A1GP is growing throughout its markets, developing an exceptionally strong fan base across Asia. Our provisional television ratings clearly demonstrate that we have created a firm foothold in one of the biggest emerging markets in the world and it is for this reason that we are delighted to have the opportunity to return to China twice again this season. 2007/08 is going to be a bigger and better season with so much to look forward to." Tony Clements, Team GBR Seatholder said: "A1 Team GBR is delighted with the recent 2007-2008 A1GP Calendar announcement and welcomes the return of an exciting combination of race venues previously visited, plus the introduction of Zhuhai, China to the Calendar.
"The racing is set to be even more competitive than the first two seasons as the quality of teams and drivers improve, but the British team looks forward to continuing with the momentum and strong performance seen at the end of last season." Former Rookie and now full time driver Oliver Jarvis said: "I'm already so excited by the prospect of the third A1GP season, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity of returning to tracks where I previously only performed rookie duties and racing for the entire weekend.
"It's important that the Calendar has remained largely unchanged as it will help A1GP build on the successes that the series has enjoyed. From a personal point of view, returning to successful venues such as Zandvoort, Mexico City (I may be biased on this one) and Brands Hatch will be fantastic, and with both mine and Robbie's experience on many of the tracks, A1 Team GBR can head into season 3 confident that we can win the title." British driver Robbie Kerr added: "Having a similar calendar to last season is fantastic for the A1GP series as the continuity of the circuits will mean the team and driver knowledge is enhanced, which will make the racing far more competitive and exciting. However A1 Team GBR is in a good position, and I'm looking forward to the season kicking off and aiming two places higher in the Championship."
