Adebayor out to end Chelsea's time as champions

Emmanuel Adebayor today warned Chelsea that Arsenal are determined to avenge their Carling Cup Final defeat by beating them on Sunday and ending their two-year reign as Premiership champions.

Manchester United will win the title if they overcome Manchester City on Saturday and Jose Mourinho's side fail to pick up three points at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal, who moved within a point of third-placed Liverpool yesterday after a 3-1 win over Fulham, still feel aggrieved that they lost out on winning some silverware to their fierce rivals in Cardiff in February.

Adebayor admits denying Chelsea the chance of another Premiership is motivating everyone at the club and said: "We know there will be a lot at stake next Sunday and the fans will be desperate for us to beat Chelsea.

"It is a very important game for them, but we are going to play to win for our fans and as players we always want to beat a big team like Chelsea.

"It hurt all the players to lose to them in the Carling Cup Final, especially after we played so well."

The match could also see Ashley Cole play his first game at Arsenal since his move last summer, with the home fans expected to provide a hostile reception.

But Adebayor added: "I don't know what happened between Ashley and the club, I just know him as a footballer. He is a good player and a good person.

"I just hope the fans focus on us rather than him. We want them behind us rather than what Ashley is doing."
