Allen never lost faith in young stars

Tottenham's reserves were forced to come from two goals down against Derby County on Wednesday night but reserve team coach Clive Allen said he always knew his team could fight their way back into the game.
Michael Johnson and Anthony Robertson put Derby two up within 39 minutes of the first half.
But in added time bright prospect Tomas Pekhart pulled one back after being set up by Kevin-Prince Boateng and the latter then completed the comeback when he looped an overhead kick into the top corner.
"Just before half-time we got the ball into Kevin's feet in a yard of space, he picked out Tomas who finished well, so we knew we were back in the game," Allen told www.tottenhamhotspur.com
"We talked at half-time about what we hadn't done in the first half and what we needed to do to get back into it and the lads did exactly what we asked of them. We knew we could get back into it and actually go on and win the game.
"I thought once Kevin scored the equaliser only one team was going to go on and win it and we attacked right until the final whistle. We hit the bar and had a number of opportunities.
"It was a test and there were a number of younger players involved at this level for the first time, so it was a good experience for them and a good exercise all round."
