American clubs snub the chance to sign 'has been' Shevchenko

The fortunes of £31million Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko have plummeted so low that clubs in America's Major League Soccer are turning down the opportunity to sign him.

Shevchenko's name has been circulated to several MLS clubs as the 31-year-old plans an escape route out of Stamford Bridge.

But embarrassingly for the one-time best striker in the world, no team have shown interest and one MLS boss warned last night:

'Managers don't want has-beens who are looking to wind down their careers.'
