Ana hoping Roger can steer her back to the top

Ana Ivanovic is taking advice from Roger Federer as she attempts to land her second Grand Slam title.

The French Open champion is coming back to her best form after injury worries and is accepting the wise words of Federer, winner of 13 Slams, as she attempts to regain the No1 ranking from fellow Serb Jelena Jankovic.

Ivanovic, who reached the third round of the Australian Open with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Italy's Alberta Briani today, said: "When we see each other at a tournaments we always have a nice chat and Roger's a great guy. He always gives me advice and it's great, because he has achieved so much. I would love also to have opportunity to spend more time talking to him, because I think there are so many things I can learn from him, from his experience.

"At the US Open he told me that you just basically have to enjoy it and try to don't think too much. Because I used to stress a lot about travelling so much and using so much time in traffic, he told me to just accept the delays He said, You know, you can't change that. You just have to basically accept it.

"That's what other people have been telling me, but when you it hear from someone like him it strikes home much more."

Top seed Jankovic joined Ivanovic in the third round, beating Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens 6-4, 7-5 while No3 seed Dinara Safina struggled to overcome fellow Russian Ekaterina Makarova 6-7, 6-3, 6-0 and has made 70 unforced errors in her opening two matches.
