Anton up for grabs

West Ham are ready to cash in on Anton Ferdinand, with Sunderland boss Roy Keane apparently set to make an £8million bid.

Ferdinand, who missed West Ham's 2-1 win over Wigan at the weekend with a hamstring problem, has two years remaining on his contract but manager Alan Curbishley has been told to trim his squad and the defender's departure would help achieve that goal.

Tottenham and Aston Villa were two other clubs to show interest in Ferdinand during the summer.

Dean Ashton scored both West Ham goals on the opening day of the season but came off before the end of the match with a calf problem.
