Cashed strapped Mallorca, who are a takeover target for former Newcastle chairman Freddie Shepherd, are resigned to losing Guiza, 27, who has a £12m buy-out clause written into his contract and underwent a medical with Fenerbache last week, but the Turkish side are nervous the lack of further developments is down to interest from Arsene Wenger.

Mallorca are keen on Portsmouth’s Pedro Mendes. Portsmouth want £4m but may use him in return for long-term target, Argentinian midfielder Jonas.
