Arsenal prepare £4m Diarra bid

Arsenal are ready to make a bid for Chelsea defender Lassana Diarra.

The Frenchman was given an extended spell at right back last season but has slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and is expected to move to the Emirates Stadium for around £4m.

Gunners target: Diarra

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is on the look-out for a right back and has offered Glen Johnson to Tottenham in exchange for Pascal Chimbonda.

Johnson has not impressed during pre-season but Spurs chief Martin Jol is reluctant to take the England right back to White Hart Lane.

Another player on the way out of Stamford Bridge is teenager Ben Sahar.

Mourinho agreed a one-year loan deal with Queen's Park Rangers yesterday. The Israel forward, 17, failed to make an impact with the first team last season and the arrival of Claudio Pizarro has pushed him further out of contention.
