Arthur gets world super-featherweight chance in Cardiff

Alex Arthur, already acclaimed as the EBU's European champion of the year, gets his chance at the WBO world super-featherweight title in Cardiff on July 7.

The brilliant Edinburgh boxer faces Georgia's Koba Gogoladsze for the interim crown but that could well be upgraded to full world status as current champion Joan Guzman plans to move up to lightweight.

Promoter Frank Warren is determined to show he can deliver big fights for up and coming British fighters and plans to give Dagenham's Kevin Mitchell a crack at Arthur if the Scot becomes WBO world champion.

Warren says: "I've got fighters into good positions, fighting for proper titles. There is a tremendous buzz surrounding Ami Khan's next fight, for the Commonwealth title against Willie Limond and now is the time to capitalise on these fighters' popularity and status and make top fights."
