Dennis Wise banned his Millwall squad from attending the premiere of a film about football hooligans as the players prepare for the FA Cup Final.

The 37-year-old playermanager, notorious for having a short fuse both on and off the pitch, told players they would be left out of the final against Manchester United on 22 May if they attended the screening of The Football Factory.

The film, based on a book about the infamous Chelsea Headhunters, also features violence by Millwall thugs, and has attracted criticism for glamorising hooliganism-Wise and Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis want to distance the club from association with football hooliganism.

A Millwall insider said: " Dennis and Theo thought a bunch of their players walking down the red carpet would send out the wrong message."
