British and Commonwealth supermiddleweight champion Carl Froch today threw down the gauntlet to former World Boxing Council title-holder Robin Reid.

Froch claimed the Lonsdale Belt last week with a first-round win over Damon Hague in Nottingham. The 27-year-old has now won 14 fights in a row as a professional and is eager to take a step up in class.

Reid, 33, recently outpointed previously unbeaten Brian Magee for the IBO title.

"I'm ready and waiting to fight Reid," Froch said. "I don't want him to go quiet on me again like he has the last couple of times I've mentioned his name."
