Arjen Robben insisted today Chelsea have the fighting qualities necessary to emerge victorious in the battle for the Premiership.

The Dutch midfielder's superb goal enabled Jose Mourinho's side to secure a 1-0 victory over Everton on Saturday, taking them to the top of the table for the first time this season.

Robben's pace and skill has given Chelsea an extra dimension since he returned from an ankle injury last month, but despite his slight frame the 20-year-old is not afraid of the rough stuff.

He said: "It was like a war ag ainst Ever ton, with challenges flying in from every direction, but we refused to stand down. Even when things are not going so well we have the belief we're going to improve and will always fight to the end.

"You need that attitude to win Championships, as I know from my time in Holland, but especially in England. The Premiership is much tougher than the Dutch league, with big games every week, but I am ready for the physical challenge.

" I came here to win Championships and believe I can do that with Chelsea."

Robben was singled out for special praise by Mourinho following his second matchwinning display in succession. "He is an incredible player who has everything," said the Chelsea head coach.
