The latest attempt by the men's game to clean up its act following a series of high-profile positive nandrolone tests has failed to impress World Anti-Doping Agency chiefs or the International Tennis Federation.

The ATP, the men's governing body, have brought in GlaxoSmithKline to produce nutritional supplements that will be tested before being made available to players at January's Australian Open.

However, the ITF is concerned about who would be deemed liable should a player fail a test. ITF chief Francesco Ricci Bitti said: "We stick to our position. It's not clear supplements are helpful."

The ATP move has been backed by Tim Henman, though, who is being treated for a magnesium deficiency after steering clear of all supplements. He said: "We have been too afraid to take anything; now we can have the greatest confidence possible."
