Shocked: Muttiah Muralitharan

Muttiah Muralitharan has called for support for Sri Lanka's fishermen after visiting the country's south coast to hand out aid to tsunami victims.

Murali said he was "deeply shocked" after visiting Hambantota, a town where 7,500 fishermen have been confirmed dead and 18,500 fishing boats lost.

The spinner, accompanied by Mahela Jayawardene, Nuwan Zoysa, Avishka Gunawardene and Kumar Sangakkara, helped to distribute food and medicine.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Government has pledged £1,870 for every six, £375 for every boundary and £7.50 for each run scored during three one-day games between the Kiwis and a World XI to aid the tsunami victims.
