Loan Ranger Davies keen for permanent deal

On-loan defender Andrew Davies is hoping to sign for Queens Park Rangers in the summer.

QPR and Middlesbrough agreed a £750,000 fee last month but the 20-year-old could not agree terms with Rangers and instead joined them only until the end of the season.

Davies has had two loans spells at Loftus Road and now wants to tie up a long-term deal.

He said: "QPR are top of my list. I know the manager, know the players and the fans have been fantastic to me. Hopefully, I can sort things out with QPR. I will play the next seven games and then speak to the club at the end of the season.

"I came back here on loan when there were a couple of other Championship clubs interested. I'd love to stay here."

The centre-half stressed the reason his move fell through was "nothing to do with wages".

He said: "It all happened so quickly. I'm only 20. It's quite hard to move away from your family so quickly so I said, 'I'd rather come here on loan and have the summer to sort everything out'."

Matthew Rose [ankle], Richard Edghill [mumps], Martin Rowlands [knee] and Dean Sturridge [leg] are struggling to be fit for tonight's home game with struggling Gillingham.
