Family success: Jamie Murray with his brother Andy after San Jose

Jamie Murray succeeded where younger brother Andy failed by winning back-to-back ATP Tour titles.

The 21-year-old and doubles partner Eric Butorac clinched the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships doubles crown to add to last week's success at the SAP Open in San Jose.

Playing Julien Knowle and Jurgen Melzer, Murray and Butorac were comfortable 7-5 6-3 victors in Memphis.

A tight first set looked like going to a tie-break until the 12th game, where Murray and Butorac secured the crucial break.

The second also went with serve until game eight, when another break and a successful hold sealed victory.

Andy Murray, who successfully defended his singles title in San Jose, was on course to mirror his brother's achievement until he lost to top seed Andy Roddick in the semi-final.

Roddick lost 6-3 6-2 to defending champion Tommy Haas in the final.

Federer breaks Connors' record

Roger Federer today breaks Jimmy Connors' 30-year-old record for the longest consecutive stint as world number one.

The 25-year-old Swiss will have held the top spot for 161 straight weeks when the rankings are confirmed today, beating the American great's run from the 1970s.

Federer's reign began on 4 February 2004, one that is certain to be extended deep into 2007, such is his lead at the summit.

Connors set the previous record between July 1974 and August 1977.

"I think it's one of the most important records that I'll beat, perhaps even the most significant," Federer said after the Australian Open in January.
