Manchester United teenager Anderson has been taken to task over his flamboyant lifestyle and warned he is in danger of placing his Manchester United future in jeopardy.

Worried team-mates have noted the £18million summer signing's fondness for socialising and delivered a blunt message about the perils of over-indulging.

Anderson: warning

Senior players are believed to have given the 19-year old former Porto midfielder a dressing down over his conduct away from the pitch and left him in no doubt about the consequences of incurring the wrath of manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

After being urged to concentrate on his career and forget the trappings of his new-found fame and fortune, the Brazilian appeared to heed his team-mates' advice with a performance against Wigan on Saturday that earned glowing praise from Carlos Queiroz.

The United assistant manager said: "That was more like the Anderson we saw at Porto and I was delighted with him. I know what he is capable of and there were signs that he is beginning to settle and play at the level we want from him."

While Anderson appears, belatedly, to be falling into line, Ferguson has expressed misgivings over Louis Saha's involvement in France's squad to face the Faroe Isles and Lithuania.

Saha withdrew from the Wigan game with a recurrence of a knee injury and Ferguson warned France coach Raymond Domenech to be wary of adding to his jinxed striker's catalogue of injury problems.

He said: "The fact that he is in the squad does not mean he is going to start. Their team doctor was the one who gave him his last operation so he knows the situation. We would expect them to handle Louis in the right way. You have to bear in mind that the Roma game was his first start since February."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is stepping up his pursuit of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso, although reports in Portugal suggest Ferguson may have secured first option when United signed their winger Nani.

Veloso would be a good aquisition but we need another striker...proven not might be. I see Van Huntalar is attracting interest from Chelsea now and how many times has he been associated with Untd. What appears to be wrong with Hargreaves I hope he doesn't turn out to be another Saha injury prone. Try and buy during the January window you may need another midfielder and striker to acquire both titles you are after. Quaresma is another worth buying...I see Liverpool have an interest in him although he would probably opt for Untd because of the presence of Ronaldo and Nani and not forgetting the Ast coach.
