Grant 'just had to wait for the results to come along' - Drogba credits Jose for Chelsea's success

Didier Drogba attacked Avram Grant today, claiming his contribution to Chelsea's success has been minimal.

Drogba believes former manager Jose Mourinho, who was replaced by Grant after he was sacked in September, should get all the credit if Chelsea beat Manchester United in Moscow tomorrow.

The Ivory Coast international was signed by Mourinho from Marseille for £24m in 2004.

Striking comment: Didier Drogba believes Jose Mourinho can take a lot of the credit for Chelsea's success

Drogba said: "What do you want me to say about him? Apart from the fact he brought his own vision of football, he is less charismatic and less argumentative than Mourinho. That creates a gap.

"In any case, Grant did not have a lot to say. He just had to wait for the results to come along. Or not.

"Like a son after the loss of his father? In our case, we found ourselves with a stepfather that we hadn't chosen."

"Mourinho always wanted us not to put up with things, but always make ourselves responsible. We all learned the lesson."

The timing of Drogba's outburst in France Football magazine couldn't be worse as Chelsea prepare for the biggest game in the club's history, while Grant is under increasing pressure to keep his job.

Drogba, 30, also revealed his salute to the fans after his the last game of the season at Stamford Bridge against Bolton might have been a farewell.

He said: "Of course I thought it was perhaps saying goodbye. A bit like every year after the last match at home.

"For some weeks I have heard everyone sending me all over the place but no one has mentioned Chelsea. And what if I stayed?

"I am not as firm and decided as I was some months ago. My family feel well in London and so do I. I have just bought a lovely house there. All I did was confide a certain distress after Mourinho was sent away.

"So, for the moment, I am wondering what the best decision is."
