Cesc Fabregas hopes David Villa's stunning Euro 2008 hat-trick against Russia will convince Arsenal to sign the Spain striker.

Villa is expected to leave Valencia for a team playing in the Champions League this summer if one of his many admirers are prepared to pay about £25million for the prolific marksman.

And with Chelsea and Tottenham also among clubs interested from the Barclays Premier League, Fabregas has urged boss Arsene Wenger to make his move.

Following Spain's 4-1 victory over Russia at Innsbruck, Fabregas said: "He would be amazing for the English league. I would like to have him in my team because as you can see he can make the difference.

"He has mobility, he scores goals and he is brave. And for us he has formed a great partnership with Fernando Torres."

Wenger was in the stadium to see Villa's hat-trick help Spain establish an early lead at the top of Group D.

Villa is coming off a rocky season by his own standards after scoring 18 league goals. Though Valencia lifted the Copa del Rey trophy, the club didn't do well in the league and fired coach Ronald Koeman.

Real Madrid are also thought to be interested in his signature.
