British doubles star Jamie Murray has obviously decided it's time for a very different look.

Known for his long locks and bushy hair, the younger brother of British tennis No 1 Andy is normally seen in action with a headband to hold back his hair.

Mocked in recent weeks for his bush of curly long hair held in place by a sweatband brought to mind superstar one-time badboy John McEnroe.

But he has opted for a dramatic cut - half-way through the biggest tournament of the year.

Before and after: Jamie Murray looks very different without his 'John McEnroe' style locks

Perhaps he wants to take some of the heat off Andy - who tends to take most of the headlines, as he aims for a place in the singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon.

Perhaps he is taking the advice of new mixed doubles partner Liezel Huber, who urged the Scot last week to ditch his 'Mr Nice Guy' image, and is going for a 'mean and moody' look.

Or maybe he's trying to impress his string of female admirers and fans, who are plastered all over his page on the social networking site Facebook.

Jamie Murray

Jamie Murray showed off his new look as his family went for dinner at a restaurant in west London.

Either way, his supporters will be hoping his attentions are firmly on matters on the court when he and Max Mirnyi take on Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic in the mens doubles.
