Spain are the new world number one-ranked side after their victory at the European Championship but England have fallen six places to 15th - one spot above Scotland.

The Spanish moved up three places to depose last month's leaders Argentina after their victory over Germany in the final of Euro 2008 in Vienna on Sunday.

England's absence from the tournament denied them competitive action and as a result they fell outside the top 10 just a month after re-entering it.

World champions Italy are second in the rankings, with Germany's appearance in the final lifting them to third, ahead of Brazil, Holland and Argentina.
