UEFA president Michel Platini has insisted he has been reassured by an inspection visit to Poland to look at preparations for Euro 2012.

Platini, who is visiting co-hosts Ukraine today, warned however that substantial effort was needed by Polish authorities over the next four years.

Platini and his inspection team including England's UEFA vice-president Geoff Thompson will report back to the European governing body's executive committee in September who will then decide whether to keep the two countries as tournament hosts.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk (left) impressed Platini

Platini said: 'All activities In Poland seem to be on track. We have received assurances from the Polish government that the crucial national stadium in Warsaw will be completed in due time, together with the necessary transport infrastructure.

'I feel reassured after this visit to the Polish side of the UEFA Euro 2012 project.'

Platini held one-to-one meetings with Polish prime minister Donald Tusk and president Lech Kaczynski, as well as talks with representatives of the Polish FA.

He was due to have discussions today (Thursday) with Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko and president Viktor Yushchenko.

UEFA said in a statement today: 'UEFA believes that the project is being managed professionally, in line with best practices and in close co-operation with UEFA experts.

'UEFA also expresses its satisfaction that the project is fully supported by all political forces, especially the prime minister and the President. Both UEFA and the Polish government emphasise that the next four years will require substantial effort.

'However, if the project continues to be managed in the same manner as in the past few months, it will be a success.'
