Awards for West Brom, Leeds and Barnet managers

West Brom manager Tony Mowbray has been named the Coca-Cola Championship manager of the month for September.

The Baggies, who narrowly missed out on promotion at the end of last season, recorded four victories and one draw during the month and Mowbray told Sky Sports News: "We're on a journey. We've got targets and aims to get out of this division.

"We're taking each game as it comes and we want to pick up points as well as play some entertaining football.

"We've done OK at home and scoring plenty of goals while the defence is much tighter - so hopefully we've got the balance right.

"We've also brought a lot of good players in who just want to play good football as well as learn. They are fantastic to work with."

The accolade in League One went to Leeds boss Dennis Wise, for the second month in a row.

The Whites recorded four wins and one draw in September and remain the only club in the three Coca-Cola Leagues to remain unbeaten, while making up their 15-point deficit.

Wise said: "I think getting rid of the minus 15 points early on was a big plus for us. It was very important to get them off the board as quickly as possible.

"They have done fantastically well - the players, the staff, everyone has done very well.

"I think last year we had difficult times, but we all want to try and achieve something this year. It's very different this year to last and as a group we've been fantastic.

"We knew we had a lot of quality in our dressing room and importantly we've got a younger squad this year.

"Tresor Kandol and Jermaine Beckford have been fantastic up front, while everyone in the back four has been outstanding."

The League Two honour went to Paul Fairclough, whose Barnet side recorded three wins and two draws, and he said: "We're having a great time and the lads have really done well.

"We're playing some nice stuff and while I know this award is for the manager I'd like to share it with Mark Stein and Ian Hendon as they have played a big part in winning the award."
