Baddeley pledges to work on his fitness

Andy Baddeley vowed to come back fitter and stronger after missing out on a medal in the final of the 1,500 metres in Beijing last night.

The 26-year-old from the Wirral was rated an outside medal hope after he won this season's Dream Mile in Oslo, but came ninth behind winner Rashid Ramzi of Bahrain.

Baddeley said: "I'll be honest, a medal was always my goal coming into these Games. I'm disappointed to finish so far down the field. I'll go away, work hard, and come back fitter and stronger next time."
