Bale injury woe as Spurs win in Ireland

Gareth Bale, 17, suffered a knock on his debut for Spurs last night and limped out of the 1-0 win over St Patrick's Athletic in Dublin.

The left back, signed in a deal worth £10m from Southampton earlier in the summer, appeared to have hurt his thigh when he was taken off with nine minutes remaining in the friendly at Richmond Park, although the injury did not look serious.

Robbie Keane, back in his home city, scored the only goal just before the break. Newly signed France Under 21 captain Younes Kaboul was impressive while striker Darren Bent went close on three occasions.
