Ballack row over filming

Oliver Bierhoff launched a stinging attack on Chelsea as Germany's biggest-selling newspaper Bild launched a campaign to bring Michael Ballack back to the Bundesliga.

Ballack missed a filming session to promote Germany's new-look strip for the Euro 2008 Finals which left kit manufacturers adidas and the German Federation fuming.

Chelsea delayed granting permission for the Germany captain's participation until Sunday night, after he had already caught a flight back to London. The club are paid around £20million a year by adidas, who also sponsor Ballack.

Germany general manager Bierhoff said: 'This is not how you treat a German international, especially the captain of the team.'

However, a Chelsea spokesman said: 'Michael was given permission to attend the photo shoot.'
