He then said: "It does not matter what will happen with my new team, I'll never find the affection I was shown at Arsenal.

"In part, that's because I don't think my legs will let me play for another club for eight years. You always return to the place you belong to and so I hope one day to be able to work with that club. I have this club in my blood."

The 30-year-old said he had followed Arsenal since leaving for Spain in the close season. "I'm proud to have played for Arsenal and to be a fan of theirs," he added.

Henry scored as Barcelona were held to a 1-1 draw at in-form Sevilla in the first leg of their Copa del Rey fifth-round tie last night.

The former Arsenal striker put Barca ahead after 24 minutes before the hosts levelled just before the break through Diego Capel.

Joaquin Sanchez enjoyed a dream return to Real Betis as he scored twice to give Valencia a 2-1 win.

High-flying Espanyol were held to a 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao, Getafe beat Levante 3-0, Recreativo Huelva edged out Villarreal 1-0 while Real Zaragoza and Racing Santander drew 1-1.
