Beckham returns as a sub for Galaxy

Beckham made his comeback from a knee injury suffered in the SuperLiga final at the end of August when he appeared as a 68th-minute substitute in Galaxy's 1-1 draw with New York on Thursday.

But Galaxy president Alexi Lalas admits the 32-year-old former England captain lacks match fitness after his injury lay-off.
"He is definitely not 100% in terms of his sharpness and that comes from being off for a long time," Lalas told Sky Sports News.
"I don't think there is a chance of him starting (against Chicago) but he could come on if necessary."
Beckham looks to be facing a race against time to persuade England coach Steve McClaren to call him up for the friendly in Austria (November 16) and the final Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia on November 21.
"We would never stand in his way when it comes to playing for England," stressed Lalas.
"It's nice to see him getting back on the field and we can't wait until we have a 100% David Beckham playing because that's going to be great."
Lalas once again ruled out any prospect of Beckham being loaned out to another club during Galaxy's close season.
"I am sure there are a lot of clubs out there that would love to have David Beckham but that is not something we have even contemplated. We have not discussed that at all with any teams," he said.
"He has gone through one of the most challenging years of his career and we want him to have time to rejuvenate in the close season. He is not a robot, he needs rest like everyone else.
"It's been a strange year with him coming mid-season and the injury and the way he has changed our business, the impact that he has made. He's done a great job of being so accommodating to everyone out here."
