MacDonald's 16th goal of the season - together with Karleigh Osborne's strike - sealed a 2-0 victory for the Bees over Port Vale.
And MacDonald said: "We are top of the table now and three points clear as Wycombe slipped up, so we are there to be shot at.
"We have come to the end of our Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday run and the lads can prepare for a tough game next week against Rochdale."
Danny Foster doubled his Dagenham tally with both goals in 2-1 victory over Luton. The full-back had scored twice in 175 games for the club but Daggers' joy was tempered by the loss of centre-back Mark Arber, who limped off injured during the second half.
Barnet slipped further into trouble after a two-goal defeat at Notts County but have been boosted by the news that Yannick Bolasie has extended his loan from Plymouth by a month.
