Bees brought down to earth

Barnet suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Macclesfield as they surrendered weakly to a side fighting relegation.

Just two days after thrashing Lincoln 5-2, Barnet were dealt a thrashing of their own as Danny Thomas, Neil Ashton and Francis Green scored the goals.

Albert Adomah had a first-half opportunity for Barnet but sent a hopeful volley wide.

At half-time, and with a two-goal deficit, Paul Fairclough sent on Jason Puncheon to try to rescue something from the game. But three minutes after the restart, Green beat Lee Harrison at his near post to put the game beyond doubt.

Harrison kept the score down with a save from Jamie Tolley, while substitute Ashley Carew was lucky not to be shown a red card for a late tackle on Ashton.

Adam Birchall hit a late effort straight at home keeper Jon Brain.
