Below-par Egan set to take break

Egan was fined £3,300 by Racing Victoria stewards after calling local vets "tin-pot Hitlers" over their fitness checks on his intended Cup mount Yellowstone before trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam eventually decided to scratch the horse from the race due to injury.

Egan's agent Neil Allan told the Racing Post: "John has returned from Australia but was not feeling 100 per cent. He has said he wants to take a sabbatical and call it a day for the rest of the year."
