Benitez signs Spanish prospect for Liverpool future

have signed Spanish right-back Emmanuel Mendy on a three-year deal.


The 18-year-old, from Spanish Third Division side Murcia Deportivo, is expected to compete for a place in the reserves.

This summer Rafa Benitez has strengthened his defensive cover signing full backs Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena as well as Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri.

The Spanish manager continues to chase Tottenham's Robbie Keane and Aston Villa's Gareth Barry although the funds available are somewhat dependent on the sale of midfielder Xabi Alonso.
