Bentley answers England Under 21 call

Called up: Bentley impressed in England B action against Albania and will now feature for the Under 21s

Bentley, who scored the first goal for England at the new Wembley when he netted for the under 21s against Italy, has played more than 50 games for his club this season and boss Mark Hughes recently warned against burn-out.

However, his season will be extended into next month following his inclusion in the 23-man squad for the under 21s.

Boss Stuart Pearce had previously named a 30-man squad and had to trim the numbers, with Lee Cattermole and Andrew Davies from Middlesbrough out injured.

Luke Moore, Michael Johnson, Lee Camp, Matt Kilgallon were left out, and Gabriel Agbonlahor could not be contacted.
