The American businessman is locked in a bitter struggle with Millwall's largest shareholder Graham Lacey over the club's redevelopment plans for The Den.

Isle of Man-based entrepreneur Lacey owns nearly 30 per cent of Millwall but is not a director. He says he has "lost confidence" in the club's board and now wants shareholders to be consulted about every major decision on the project.

But Berylson believes Lacey's demands - to be voted on at an extraordinary general meeting on 2 July - are costly and unworkable and is urging shareholders to reject them. A source close to Millwall said: "If Mr Berylson were to walk away, the club would be left in a very perilous position."
