But Eriksson still wants another striker as he looks to solve the scoring problem that undermined predecessor Stuart Pearce last season.
Middlesbrough's Yakubu remains at the top of Eriksson's list, while AZ Alkmaar's Moussa Dembele has also come under consideration.
Yesterday Bianchi spoke of his delight at joining City and said: "Mr Eriksson called me personally and said he wanted me at any cost. He told me, 'Come and we will be watched by 50,000 fans every Saturday and we want to be in Europe'.
"When he mentioned the word Europe, I had a great feeling. Nothing was moving in Italy so I had to take this chance.
"I hope one day I can return to Italy with a big club but I am beginning this new adventure and I now want that at any cost. I want to show what I can do."
City left back Michael Ball has signed a new two-year contract, while Eriksson is considering a move for West Bromwich defender Curtis Davies.
