Luiz Felipe Scolari heaped praise on manager Tony Pulis and long-throwing phenomenon Rory Delap.
boss Scolari, who takes his team to the Britannia Stadium today, said: 'Maybe it's not beautiful football - but it's effective.
'I think he (Delap) delivers the ball better with his hands than his foot. I haven't seen it in my life in top football. It's dangerous, it's direct, it's fantastic.
Delap Danger: Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari admires Stoke's throw-in specialist
'I see many times the ball goes in the box and they give you big problems on the first and second ball. I like this coach (Pulis).
'If you are making goals, it's more beautiful than not making goals.'
But Scolari has plans to combat this. He said: 'I have studied more videos on Stoke than Manchester United.'
Asked whether he might fancy introducing the Delap hurl into Chelsea's armoury, he joked: 'Maybe in training every day. One hour for throw-ins, not for shooting - it could work very well!'
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech added: 'We are well prepared for the long throw.'
